Teacher's Day

Teacher's day is apparently a national holiday for the people of India. We came to school on what we thought was a typical Saturday (they have school 6 days a week). Instead of the normal uniforms that the students usually wear, all the students were dressed in their brightest finest clothes. The teachers informed us that today was a special day, once a year the students would put on this celebration. The students would save up money and buy each of their teachers a gift, decorate, and then put on a show. It was so awesome that we were able to be a part of it! The students were all so talented, showing off their amazing dances, and singing…Here is just a little part of it!

Those were first-graders who didn't rehearse by the way.

These boys are in the 6th grade.

This is the man that is honored on Teacher's Day. He was born in September 5th 1889.
